City on a Hill aims to collaborate with community organizations and ministries to further our mission of shining God’s light in Galveston. We have been blessed with a couple of opportunities so far to pursue this goal, working with a ministry in downtown Galveston called Streetscape. In this ministry, Jenn and Brian Parke serve the local homeless community by providing meals, music, fellowship, and a Sunday church service through this ministry. They kindly invited me to share a couple of art lessons- one for Christmas 2025 called “Prince of Peace” and one for Valentine’s Day 2026 called “Chains of Love.”
For Prince of Peace, I preached a short message about Christ, our blessed Prince of Peace and then we watercolored and stenciled nativity scenes together 🙂 You can check out the message on the Bible Blog, and here are some pics of that project:
For Chains of Love, I preached a short message about the love of God in Christ, and we made a string of individual tissue paper, stained glass hearts and also beaded friendship bracelets in chains of love! City on a Hill also has a good relationship with a local cafe called Nifany’s on 3818 Ave S in Galveston. Rebecca Frank, the owner, has graciously hosted our Prince of Peace Christmas Eve painting party in 2025 and our Pets and Prayer Party stuffed animal give away that the church my husband Dennis pastors, First Baptist Church of Port Bolivar, hosted in Feb 2026. City on a Hill also holds a monthly Bible study on the first Wednesday morning of every month at 9:30 here. In these studies we look at a Bible Blog and have good discussions about the truths of God and build each other up in our most holy faith! One last thing Rebecca has done is she is selling Psalms cards that I have hand colored and printed and laminated. There are 8 designs and they are $4 each. You can also order from me directly if you need a bulk quantity at discount for an event or to hand out to ministry partners or something. You can see some pics below:
FUTURE DIRECTIONS AND INQUIRIES
In this upcoming year, City on a Hill has plans to work with Pregnancy Help Center Galveston doing art workshops. We are also open to any inquiries if you are looking for someone to bring the message and love of Christ to your organization or community. I am available to teach art, preach the Bible, or do mental health/life coaching. Just contact me and perhaps we can meet, talk, and collaborate!
